The KINPA 金八鶏
A small henny rarity

There are very few examples of this little breed in Japan, and even fewer in the rest of the world. Its main characteristic is that the males are henny feathered i.e. they do not have typical male plumage – lacking the saddle hackle and sickle tail feathers.

 

Weights: Male approx 1 - 1.5 kg (2lb 4oz - 3lb 7 oz), Female approx 1 kg (2lb 4oz).

 

In some areas of Japan white and black are the only recognized colours, but other prefectures other colours are recognized. In January of 1959 this breed from the Akita Prefecture was recognized as a natural monument. It is said to have been created ca. 150 years ago.
